Mash Ups

My oldest brother Christopher has officially gotten me into the world of Mash Ups through the DJ Girl Talk. I'm convinced this is where our postmodern word is taking music. I was talking to my musician friend Andrew Walker and he pointed me this minty fresh beats mash up of Jay-z and Radiohead. Well needless to say, I am hereby announcing my love for mash ups. Especially good ones like Danger Mouse's Grey Album or Jaydiohead. I have to say that of those two, I like the Radiohead and Jay-z mash up the most.

I am very interested in how both DJ mash-ups and the baroque pop-neo folk revolution are happening at the same time in music. To me they are one and the same. I'm just as excited about Andrew Bird, Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens as I am about Danger Mouse, Jaydiohead and Girl Talk. Which probably proves I am a full fledged member of the postmodern world to where I love tradition as much as I love the modern. Solomon truly got it right when he lamented that there is nothing new under the sun. And where music is going these days, proves him to be right.
